Happy New Year!

I cannot believe we are already two weeks into the new year. 2018. Wow.

Looking back on 2017.

We continued to remodel our house. We moved in in March and then took about a month off to just enjoy having space to move around. It was a well deserved break.

Sam got some major things done in 2017,  like the “engineering feat” as it was called. He had to build a large beam and shore up the second story. It was a huge undertaking but with the help of our son in law he got it done. All but one room on the second floor, where the bedrooms are, have been gutted. We put in a Jack and Jill Closet for our girls that is serving as a family closet right now. It is so nice to be able to hang clothes again! The closet came out so great. One of the girls rooms is almost done and they will both move in there until the other is done.

I began working for the USPS as a rural letter carrier assistant in June. That has been a major shift in our lives, but a good one. I have worked over the years but my jobs were always from home and I set my schedule for the most part. Not with this, I am on call.  I enjoy the job a lot. It’s the hardest job I’ve ever had and the only job that I have ever wished for more hours in a day so I can get my work done! I have become quicker so I don’t wish for the extra hours now!

The girls turned 10!  It was the first year I didn’t go all out with a themed party and homemade cakes. For one thing we still didn’t know a whole lot of people to invite and I had to work on their birthday. 🙁 They understood and still had a fun day, spent it swimming in their new swimming pool!

I haven’t published a post since April. I have written some but not published. Family and work came first and this had to be put on the back burner. With the remodel, homeschooling and a new job things got crazy. But, I have made a goal for the year to post at least once a week.

Fingers crossed I can do it!
